About Us

~ Our Story ~

Denise Frankel is the face behind Rockcoco, a luxury hand fan brand. Denise has been immersed in the fashion world since a young age alongside her family. Her Father and Grandfather owned a millinery company in the City of London, supplying boutiques and department stores across Europe and the UK from the 1930s until the 1990s.

Perhaps this early introduction to the fashion world sparked Denise’s passion for vintage clothing and accessories; no special occasion outfit would be complete without one of the beautiful fans from her personal collection. These statement pieces did not go unnoticed, and after receiving many compliments and enquiries about where they could be bought, Denise became curious to see if these ornate fans were still being produced.

After much research, she discovered that the only type of fans available in shops across the UK were inexpensive and mass-produced. Denise realised that the style of fans she was looking for simply did not exist anymore, so she made it her mission to seek out artisans to work with to create luxury hand fans for the modern woman, made from the finest materials.

Denise set about turning her passion for fans into a career, founding Rockcoco Fans with her sister Janis in 2014 and becoming the first bespoke hand fan makers in London for over a hundred years. After many wonderful years working together, Janis retired in 2024, and Rockcoco has since gracefully evolved from a company into a sole-trader venture.

Denise remains dedicated to promoting and preserving this ancient craft, as well as maintaining and reviving its traditional methods, continuing to create timeless luxury hand fans with elegance, craftsmanship, and individuality at the heart of the brand.

Denise received recognition from The Worshipful Company of Fan Makers, one of the City of London’s original livery companies which received a Royal Charter by Queen Anne in 1709. Denise was honoured to be made a liveryman of the company and was awarded the Freedom of the City of London.
